Located directly adjacent to Chalone Maintenance Area in Chalone Creek Area. Features close by revegetation plots (Willows and Cottonwoods) on eastern bank. Commonly refered to as the "Dike" restoration area. In 1950's, Chalone Creek was plowed by CCC workers. Restoration efforts at various times, including the current. Weed plots also here currently. 100 year flood in 1998. Dead algae crust was removed from species tally. Plot is lowest point in creek between two higher sand bars in the floodplain. Part of current channel, though creek changes course seasonally. Stones, cobble and gravel dominate, some covered with dessicated algae.
